Ode To A Young Man

  You were young

  And in your prime

  Good looking, well-travelled

  And quite a catch.

  - If you would be caught.

  Playing with any team

  As the spirit took you

Not a fixture in any group

  But happy to float along.

  – Just a free spirit.

  With an open mind

  And an open heart

  Always open to new ideas

  You had to try everything.

  – At least the once.

  Drifting through life

  Without an anchor

  Your open mind might

  Cast you on the rocks.

  – Or take you out to sea.

But the doors did not open

  The way was not clear.

  The currents pulled you

  This way and that.

  – So you just kept drifting.
